Shippers Commonwealth Announces Release of Vendor Logistics Portal for Inbound Shipment Management

August 11, 2002 - Richmond, VA – Shippers Commonwealth, the leading provider of automated transportation management systems and programs, is pleased to announce the production release and general commercial availability of its new Vendor Logistics Portal. The Vendor Logistics Portal is a fully Web-based application, developed by Shippers Commonwealth, that provides for on line shipment routing requests from suppliers, to fully enable automated inbound shipment management. It can be used as a standalone secured Internet application, written in state of the art Java 2EE with MS SQL DBMS. It is also fully integrated to the Shippers Commonwealth/RedPrairie Transportation Management System (TMS) for shippable order feed (including order validity checks, and order change management) to enable inbound load consolidation, tendering, and onward tracking and visibility for vendor and customer via the Digital Tracker web portal for shipment status.

The Vendor Logistics Portal is being launched this month at a leading publicly owned retailer, with rollouts planned for several large manufacturers, retailers, and distributors this year.

“The Vendor Logistics Portal provides the break-through to truly enable inbound shipment management with suppliers”, says Robert Shagawat, President & CEO of Shippers Commonwealth, adding that “this Extranet application provides the actionable data that was missing from client’s back office systems required to support consignee control of inbounds, and eliminates manual methods such as telephone and fax used by retailers, distributors, and manufacturers today”.
