Logistics Operations Assessment ("LOA") Program

Freight Cost Optimization Assessment - "What If" with your Actual Data

As a part of its offering program, the Shippers Commonwealth team of transportation experts can perform an invaluable savings assessment for you, the Shipper Client. We call this our Logistics Operations Assessment, or "LOA" program.

Purpose: The purpose of this LOA is to evaluate the options in transportation management improvement programs to quantify and validate specific savings attainable from an automated transportation management system ("TMS").

Freight Consolidation: This can include automated load consolidation opportunities for Less Than Truckload (LTL) freight consolidation into multi-stop Truckloads (TL) and/or dynamic pool distribution, such as can be achieved through our Load Builder subscription software program (the first and best time-shared optimization program on the market).

Methodology and Model: In this program, an automated model using the analyst talents of our team and the aid of our advanced TMS will be employed to conduct a "what if" assessment on your actual shipping data, for inbound or outbound shipments from select locations.

Modeling Potential Freight Programs Before Implementing Them: The assessment is an excellent way to "try" other transportation modes or methods ¾ via computer simulation, and without disrupting actual operations. The LOA model yields results that are reliable, proven, and replicable in actual field use. Use of this LOA program can thus help you determine the effectiveness of other transportation methods, before you actually have to implement them with new carriers or with new shipment planning programs.

Additional Benchmarking & Business Case Evaluation: As an adjunct to this initiative, Shippers Commonwealth will also conduct an on-site detailed interview session for evaluating current environment and identifying new improvement opportunities, and provide additional benchmarking and best practice data for quantifying other areas of additional potential value for you, our Shipper Client.

Optimal Carrier Assignment: We can also conduct studies on benefits of using minimum commitment and maximum capacity programs for optimal TL carrier selection and its attendant savings, using our powerful Assign optimal carrier assignment module.

Continuous Moves: In addition, we can consider an assessment of our Shipper Client's TL data for using our Matcher module to identify potential load linking opportunities for potential continuous or dedicated moves ("dynamic tours"), with benefits of reload discounts and capacity capture of low cost, high service carriage.

Study Program and Deliverables: The Study Project, or "LOA" for Transportation, will show you how the use of advanced systems could help in identifying future shipping improvement programs, comparing these future shipping operations to prior performance of your company in freight management and customer delivery programs.

The resultant LOA will provide "real world" recommendations for automation improvements impacting freight modes, shipment/load plans, carriers, and quantify the relative benefits of such improvement programs, including cash flow analysis and Internal Rate of Return, using the actual comparison costs as are included in the LOA Report. A transportation program maturity benchmarking model can also be provided as part of the business case within the final report, based on our interviews with Shipper Client and large-scale database of shipment cost, performance, and operational efficiency metrics.
